Purchased by Jean and Joseph Spencer in 1987, The Musical Offering has been a Berkeley institution for over 30 years. Situated in the heart of Berkeley it serves concert-goers and the UC Berkeley community at a perfect location for a meal or light snack before (or after) musical events or classes. In the back of the building is our CD store, with an excellent, well-curated selection of classical music records, CDs, and videos, as well as an expert staff to help with selections. In the front: our Café. The atmosphere is inviting, the tables intimate, and whether it’s recorded or live, there’s usually classical music playing, engendering a sense of calm.
In the morning, folks swing by to enjoy a hot cup of freshly brewed coffee and light breakfast, maybe grabbing a fresh-out-of-the-oven pastry on their way out. Around noon, though, the cafe is transformed into a busy lunch spot popular with students and University faculty alike. Our daytime menu is a perfect collection of house-made soups, salads and sandwiches, daily specials, and refreshing beverages.
